Guests towels are those we give to our guests, specifically sized towels for multiple purposes. It’s important to know that guest towels have a specific size. Also, other bigger and smaller towels can be used as guest towels.

In today’s blog post, I will discuss what a guest towel is. I will explain the size and purpose, so you understand that a guest towel isn’t limited to a specific extent. I will also talk briefly about different towel sizes. So, let’s get started!

What is a guest towel?

What Are Guest Towels Used For?

When you hear guest towel, you have an obvious answer in your mind. It’s the towel that hosts keep ready for guests. All the hotels have guest towels for their guests in the rooms. So, Guest towels are specifically designated for the exclusive use of visitors.

Hosts keep these towels meticulously for the guests to luxuriate in a refreshing bath, dry their hands with pristine cleanliness, and complete their other tasks with the utmost comfort. In houses where guests have separate bathrooms, the hosts usually keep the guest towels neatly folded in the guest bathroom or on the bed.

It is to ensure that guests know that the towels are clean and specifically intended for their use. Alternatively, you can also hang towels for guests on a separate rack. Another option is to lay out the towels on the bed. I always keep the towels on the bed because towels are not meant for only use in the bathroom.

Many people place a towel on the pillow before sleeping. Some people sleep without a pillow just putting their head on a cloth. Whatever the purpose is, keeping it on the bed seems most practical to me. There is another definition of guest towels. If you scour the internet, you will find alternatively these two definitions of guest towels. Towels of a specific size are called guest towels.

Towles larger than a washcloth and smaller than a hand towel are known as guest towels. The size is usually 30 centimeters by 50 centimeters. Towles of these sizes are most commonly given to guests. Hence these towels got the name guest towels.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that towels of this size are always guest towels. Neither does it mean that you cannot name other bigger or smaller-sized towels as guest towels. The bottom line is that towels that we maintain for guests are known as guest towels.

Why should you provide towels to your guests?

Many don’t put second thoughts into it, but providing separate towels to the guests goes a long way. Towels, handkerchiefs, toothbrushes, these are very personal things. The inconvenience is genuine if guests leave one of these behind when leaving their house. The least you can do is provide a fresh towel intended only for your guest’s usage.

What Are Guest Towels Used For?

My friends come and stay at my house all the time. I’ve always seen my father give my friends a fresh towel. He always keeps two or three ready; clean and fresh. Here is why you should provide towels to your guest:

The convenience of the Guests

As I said, leaving your towel behind is a real inconvenience. When traveling, people often need more space or the desire to pack bulky towels in their luggage. If you provide towels in your accommodations, you save your guests the hassle of bringing their own towels or purchasing them upon arrival.

Additionally, giving towels to your guests means that you value your guests’ comfort and convenience. It clearly shows that you have thought ahead and taken steps to ensure their stay is as pleasant and hassle-free as possible. This small gesture can go a long way in making your guests feel welcome and appreciated.

Hygiene Concerns

You cannot use someone else’s towel. There are hygiene concerns. Towels are essential for personal hygiene, especially when it comes to bathing and grooming. Providing spare towels is the only way to promote good hygiene among your guests.

Also, if you keep an extra set of towels for your guests, no one else is using those towels. Only guests use them when they stay at your house. After that, you wash and clean them properly and store them for the next guest to use. I usually keep three towels for my guests. After they leave, I wash towels properly to ensure they are clean, germ-free, and fluffy.

To Make a Good Impression

First impressions matter; providing towels to your guests is a simple yet effective way to make a good impression. When guests arrive at your accommodations and find towels neatly arranged in their rooms, you welcome them to your house and care for them. It shows that you have taken the time and effort to anticipate their needs and provide for them.

Providing towels can elevate the overall ambiance and aesthetics of your accommodations. High-quality, soft, and luxurious towels can add a touch of luxury and comfort to the guest experience. This attention to detail can leave a lasting positive impression.

Although most of the guests in my house are my closest ones who I don’t need to make an impression on, my childhood friends and my aunt who looked after me for months after I was born. Nonetheless, providing a neat set of towels is a great way to impress your guests.

What type of towels should you give your guests?

When it comes to hosting guests, you can throw in a guest towel of 30×50 centimeters in the guest room and be done with it. Or, you can give the different types of towels, each designated for different usage. It will be convenient for your guests this way. So let’s take a look at what kind of towels you can give to your guests:

  • Washcloth: The towel your guests need

Washcloth is an essential type of towel you should provide to your guests. Washcloth is also known as a facecloth. After coming home from outside, we wash our hands and face.

Some who are too much hygiene concerned, like my father, usually wash their hands up to the elbow and rub their wet hands on the head, a light version of washing your hair. A washcloth is a towel to rub your hand, face, and head dry.

It has a specific size(which I will discuss in detail later in this article) and a particular purpose. If you only give one towel to your guests, it should be a washcloth.

  • Hand Towel: Functional and Stylish

Next, we have the hand towel. As the name suggests, the purpose of it is to dry your hands. Yes, only hands. It’s not that you can’t use it to rub and dry other body parts, but the purpose is drying hands.

The towels you usually see hanging outside the washroom or beside the sink; are hand towels so you can easily rub your hands drying after washing, usually after a meal or coming back home from the office or work.

Putting a hand towel in your guest room will provide the maximum functionality and ease to your guests. I have three sets of guest towels in my home, with two towels in each set; one washcloth and one hand towel.

  • Bath Towel: A little bit extra

Bath towels are larger than hand towels and washcloths; the size is around 30 inches by 55 inches. It’s the towel we use to dry our whole body after showering or relaxing in a bathtub.

The purpose of giving towels to guests is to ensure their convenience while staying at your home, which washcloths and hand towels can do pretty well. But a bath towel is the key if you want to go the extra mile to ensure your guest feels at home.

Giving your guests a bath towel will ensure they can take a bath comfortably if they’ve left their towel at home. Although I don’t have spare bath towels to give my guests, I plan on getting a few soon.

  • Bath Sheet: The Ultimate Indulgence

Bath sheets, also known as bath mats, take the showering and bathing experience to the next level. Bath towels help dry your body, but bath sheets enhance and fulfill your bathing experience. It’s larger, around 50 centimeters by 80 centimeters.

As you can understand from the size of it, it’s not for rubbing and drying your body. It’s for laying on the floor to absorb water as soon as you leave the shower. With all the water dripping from your body, the bath sheet will absorb it.

It’s not necessarily a must-have shower accessory, but having it gives you an enhanced experience. You can also use a bath sheet to wrap around your body after a shower. My house has only one bath sheet, and my sister uses it. If you want, you can keep an extra bath sheet and give it to your guest.
